Full-Time Fulltime Labourer in Fort McMurray
Job Description
Position Type/ Hours:
These are temporary full-time positions working forty (40) hours per week for approximately six (6) months within the Underground Services Branch of the Engineering and Environmental Services Department. This position is within the CUPE 1505 Bargaining Unit. This position is located in the community of Fort McMurray, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo’s urban centre.
Position Description:
Under general supervision, perform manual labourer duties; clean and maintain all assigned areas/facilities, operate a variety of small equipment and perform general labour tasks in assigned department. Remain flexible to respond to the immediate needs of your area to increase overall effectiveness of operations.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintain assigned areas using various small hand and power tools and equipment.
Operate assigned equipment and light motorized vehicles.
Load, unload and deliver material and supplies.
Perform clean up and minor maintenance duties in assigned facilities and grounds, in all weather conditions.
Provide assistance to other departments when required.
Assist with inspections if required by assigned area.
Clean out manholes and sewer mains.
Dig holes and trenches.
Direct traffic during street construction projects.
Assist in the maintenance of underground vaults, manholes and catch basins.
Coordinate activities related to hazardous waste collection and storage.
May be required to respond to public inquiries in an effective manner.
Maintain daily records.
Perform all other related duties as required.
Completion of High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Minimum of one (1) year related labourer experience is required.
You will possess the following:
Valid Class Five (5) Alberta driver’s licence is required (clear driving abstract is an asset).
A valid Class Three (3) Alberta driver’s licence is an asset.
Must communicate effectively and understand instruction and safety procedures.
Must be able to demonstrate dependability and reliability.
Ability to perform heavy manual labour for extended durations of time in all weather conditions (immunizations strongly recommended for work in unsanitary conditions).
Ability to work shifts and weekends.
Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
Must be medically and physically able to perform all duties of this position on an ongoing basis.

PL 6
Salary Range:
$37.24 (Temporary Rate)
In addition to the rate of pay, we offer:
-an additional bi-weekly payment of $480 which represents a cost of living allowance
