Job Description
The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing the following:
Maintain COR Certification
Perform yearly COR Audit as necessary
Maintain and update Municipal Safety Manual
Chair and organize OH&S Committee meetings
Monitor all RM shops, employees and equipment ensuring safety precautions are taken and paperwork is filled out correctly
Responsible for orientation for new employees
Organize first aid classes and other training as required
Supply safety equipment to employees
Ensure that defibrillators and fire extinguishers up to date.
Attend safety meetings, conferences and workshops to ensure that current safety protocols are met.
Carry out investigations and inspections as required
Monitor budget for training
Properly maintain and submit necessary paperwork as required.
Maintains a positive attitude working with employees
Qualifications:
Safety Management
Safety Audit
Leadership for safety excellence
Basic Training or WHIMIS Train the Trainer 88/2015 Edition
Level 2 Occupational Health Committee Training
Must have Class 5 Drivers Licence
This position will be based on 20 hours per week with availability for additional hours in emergency situations.
