What Does a Backup Driver do?
Backup Drivers are responsible for operating company delivery vehicles and facilitating deliveries to our customers across the GTA. Our team of drivers averages over 10 years of service, and based on the annual vacation schedules the Backup Driver is needed to drive 85% of the year to ensure no interruption to customer deliveries.. When Backup Drivers are not needed on the road, they assist with warehouse activities such as order picking, packaging, shipping/receiving and other duties as required.
The hours for this role will be Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm, with overtime as needed.
Main Responsibilities:
Driving company vehicles to facilitate customer deliveries and returns
Load and unload delivery trucks both by hand and using a forklift or other lift assist devices
Accepting payments for COD orders and maintaining order paperwork
Providing ETA updates to sales team and customers alike
Follow all traffic laws and MTO regulations, safe operation of vehicles at all times.
Requirements:
Previous experience driving commercial vehicles and warehouse or similar role experience.
Full G Driver’s License with clean Driver Abstract.
Familiar with MTO regulations and Highway Traffic Act legislation.
Completed High School Diploma or equivalent.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs, 75+ lbs assisted.
Forklift License is an asset.
