Purpose of the Role
Provide a variety of basic materials handling activities for the assigned area of responsibility, eg. filling order, packing, packaging, re-packaging, reconditioning, etc.
Major Responsibilities
Pick and fill merchandise requests, e.g. customer orders, store requests for merchandise, etc., in accordance with defined procedures, ensuring appropriate documentation is included, eg. Customer order documentation. Ensure merchandise is processed accurately and meets pack/sort schedules.
Package and prepare merchandise for shipment, e.g. bagging/boxing merchandise, taping labels, placing on distribution belt, etc.
Recondition returned merchandise, including inspecting condition of items, sorting according to quality standards, etc. Prepare merchandise for return to appropriate stock location, clearance center, manufacturer, etc., e.g. re-sealing packages.
Sort merchandise into specific departments or areas for distribution to clearance centers/stores. Checks to ensure appropriate documentation eg. barcodes, catalogue number, location, description etc.
Practice good housekeeping standards, and ensure safety standards in the work area, eg. clearing debris, removing obstacles that could interfere with traffic movement, etc.
Work in compliance with all laws and regulations and attend or complete all required health and safety training, report all accidents and take every precaution reasonable to ensure personal safety and the safety of others.
Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
Secondary school education
A minimum of 3 months of previous work experience
Computer skills, including basic keyboarding
Demonstrated ability to work independently
