Full-Time Lift Truck Operator in Montréal
Job Description
We are currently looking for a sorter (operator) for our waste sorting center located in Montreal. This position is on call and with variable hours.
The job holder's main mandate is to remove contaminants from the residual material stream. After successful aptitude tests, he may be required to perform the work of operator (press and forklift).
He must ensure compliance with the various policies, procedures, laws and regulations in force in the organization.
Tasks and responsibilities
Sort recyclables on conveyors such as plastic, paper, cardboard and put them in appropriate places;
Clean the separators;
Empty the recycling bins, either using the automatic tipping tray or manually;
Perform housekeeping at the end of the shift or when production is stopped;
Handle the bales of residual materials using the forklift;
Perform your work in accordance with the rules on health and safety at work;
Perform any other task required by his duties or requested by his superior.
Basic skills required
Experience in the manufacturing sector (an asset).
At least one (1) year experience in forklift operation;
Possess a skill card in forklift driving;
Experience working on a conveyor - assembly line (an asset).
Be available to work on call and on three (3) shifts.
Ability to know and recognize different recyclable materials and colors.
Have excellent manual dexterity and visual acuity.
Be able to handle moderately heavy loads (1 to 15 lbs).
Ability to use necessary work tools such as a retractable knife.
Have the ability to work standing up.
Be versatile, responsible and rigorous in the execution of your work.
Speed of mind and speed of learning.
Be punctual and hardworking and be able to follow directions.
Be concerned about quality and respect the rules of health and safety at work.
Excellent sense of observation and concentration.
Good communication both oral and written.
Condition of work
Schedule: Day (7:00 to 15:00) or Evening (15:00 to 23:00) or Night (23:00 to 7:00);
Applicable premium according to the shift;
Hourly rate with progression in the first year.
