Reporting to the Vice-President, TL Operations, the Driver Manager is responsible for the successful integration of drivers into the Groupe Robert team at every stage of their career with the company. To achieve this, he or she must promote a strong sense of engagement and commitment among staff members.
The Driver Manager must also deliver an optimal approach to equipment use, data evaluation and communication, training and coaching, and security and compliance management. In addition, he or she must work closely with other driver managers, account managers, and planning, maintenance and customer service teams, with a view to achieving assigned objectives.Your responsibilities will be as follows:
Manage drivers (hiring, onboarding, integration, training, coaching, evaluation, performance appraisal)
Oversee equipment (maximize use and maintenance)
Control drivers’ usage standards (quality of life)
Implement, disseminate and measure the results of performance-oriented corporate programs (fuel savings, driver conduct, heavy vehicle owners and operators, road safety ratings, etc.)
Manage the process for approving special payments for drivers (overtime), in accordance with applicable collective agreements
Evaluate the team’s performance and results
Ensure that drivers’ needs are factored into operational imperatives, that their requests are addressed and that their routes are planned in a way that allows them to maximize their performance and their payIn order to join Groupe Robert’s team, you must have:
10 years of relevant experience with a transportation company
Experience in transport operations (especially TL operations)
Supervisory experience
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with various departments
Excellent communication skills
Capacity for making informed decisions and finding effective solutions
Self-motivated, self-directed and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
Ability to manage several projects at once
Good level of computer literacy
Excellent written and spoken French and English
